I've realized I've been sheltered all of my life.

I had an interesting conversation with a drunk Somali old guy at a gas station this morning. He told me his life story in 20 minutes and I realized I've lived in a wonderful life.

being sheltered is bittersweet abaayo. In one hand you've avoided a lot of qashin in modern society and in the other you've avoided real unfiltered people. Most religious people you meet are so extremely"synthesised" and have no real opinions.

drunk people are the most genuine. You can always understand someone on a very deep level by pouring a glass with someone and vibe. There is no facade.

He told me how he wasted a lot of opportunities. How everyone in his family including his clansmen tried helping him but he always thought they were his enemy. At the end he found out the only enemy he had was himself and now it's too late.
