It’s time to end diya. This is a backwards law and must be left in the 7th century.

The worst part is if you’re a police officer who catches the killer then killer pays blood money and is released, you are the next target. Imagine ever wanting to catch a killer knowing he’ll be released and will come after you.

I’m sure our resident extremist wahhabis will be on my case but this cursed nation will never see justice as long as blood money is still in practice

100% with.

Diya is and was supposed to be for accidents that results in deaths. but somalis for being viscious and mooryaans came up with the diya for any vicious and milicious act they do.

For instance there is an Egyptian youtuber who installed a camera to see who is stealing stuff from her. They got it on camera and posted the video, urging ppl to be careful of him, and things back fired on her. Imagine there was a flood of comments saying: You shouldn't exposed someone that GOD have covered using the hadith of "Whoever shields [or hides the misdeeds of] a Muslim, Allah will shield him in this world and the Hereafter " and many of that type of censuring comments on her defending the thief.

And these ppl just saying that in Daacad way of speaking, no big attack but saying you should not have done that.

So they didn't defending him per se but said this not how things should went.

What I mean from all of this, ppl unconsciously can defend the injustice by misusing religious scripts.

I still remember the woman who burned that innocent man because her girl went to marry off his Madow son in benaadir

Agree 💯. In Gedo we don’t take Diya, we have something called an eye for an eye. If you kill someone you’ll be tied up the next morning.

It is abused today by criminals and the wealthy so they can get off scott free for crimes. Murderers should be executed. Elders should not have any power in the judicial process. They will protect their terrorist clan members and threaten revenge if they’re killed.

This is the main reason why somalia can be so dangerous. people will just kill you knowing they will get away as they have their elders diya money ready. This situation should be tackled

Its only appropriate for certain situations, like accidental death, or rage incidents. Somalis have turned it into a business and collect “qaaraan” from clan members in order to fatten the pocket of some decrepit bloodthirsty elder. Leave it to maryoolees to want to profit off death!

We saw it with Caydiid case when Farmaajo capitulated to HG. The dude even killed a Minister and there wasn’t even blood money in that case, the parents wanted justice. Just plain old ‘I will defend my kin’. So he got a pardon. If you can just kill a Minister and get away with it, what kind of message does that send.

But it shows that this Diya practice is a bygone from a past era. Somalis lack any morals and therefore we should not allow this practice due to it being so open to abuse.

I say no forgiveness for murderers, even manslaughter. Till there’s no deterrent for killing people then this country will never be safe. This is a country that has literal businessman carrying out hits on their competitors.

A soldierb who kills a civillian at an illegal isbaaro is considered a highway robber in Islamic law with capital punishment. As for normal murder, then the family have a choice, they can either forgive, qisas, or diya. The problem is Somalis only restrict it to diya, families who want qisas are actually denied that option by elders btw because they don't benefit financially. That is the real problem here, not the shariah of Allah you filthy ignoramuses.

‘Normal murder’ :dead:

Normal and murder should never be uttered in the same sentence.

Nah all murders should be punishable by death. I don’t care what the elders/family say. As long as murderers are able to pay blood money and face no repercussions this country will never be safe.

This practice should only apply for manslaughter or other less life threatening crimes. Although I don’t particularly even support it for rape.

If you kill someone, you haven’t just affected the family. You’ve affected the society as a whole and no one should ever have to share the streets with a murderer. These old practices must be consigned to the dustbin

I believe the Diya should stay because this is God's law and Allah is perfect and knows what is best for humanity. The problem is families/clans who accept the blood money instead of death penalty. It is best that we put our trust in Allah and our problems will be sorted.

Much worse than diya. I can’t even count how many people died in Galkaayo because they happened to be cousins/brothers/nephews/father of a killer that people couldn’t get to.:childplease:

Executing murderers is also part of shariah. It’s the best option for a modern society and best for the public.

That’s old school stuff, we don’t go looking for the killers relatives, people turn in the individual who was responsible for the crime and they execute him. No one else gets hurt, and no blood money is involved.
