Is there any anti Somalia "racism" in Somaliland

Let's say a diaspora guy born in the west wants to go back to the motherland. The only problem is that Somalia is a mess so this guy decides to go to Somaliland and start a business there with the skills he learned in the west. Would such a guy be discriminated in Somaliland because he is originally from Somalia? By discrimination I mean people insulting him, refusing to do business, trouble finding a local wife or friends etc etc.
As we know there was a wave of deportations targeting reer Somalia specifically while other non- Somali foreigners are left alone. The whole situation reminds me of Arab countries hating other Arab refugees like Syrians

Bro everyone is welcome in Somaliland, there are many more southerners and all other Somalis in Somaliland and no one pats an eye 👁. Bacda iska fur and Don't take FKDs seriously.

I don't know man, some landers online say some harsh stuff. While i guess part of it is just classism against poor refugees some of that behavior could also be ascribed to some kind of anti Somalia sentiment.

Everyone is welcome in SL as long as they are obeying the Somaliland law and avoiding our political/internal matters.

Keep in mind, you have more chance of winning the lottery, a Mars trip, witnessing Mahdi have more chance than getting this passport. Not kidding. Even those born in SL with SL mother is barred from getting one. But if your 100% Lander, you can get it in a matter of hours.

Didn't you kick them out though? Pretty harsh considering that all other foreigners have it much easier than reer Somalia. Landers always say we are one people in different countries, ok fine but if that is the case shouldn't reer Somalia be treated the same or at least almost the same as landers?

Don't listen them sxb, walahi everyone welcome, Somalinimo naga badan.

Saaxib, the social media reps of any community are going to be the worst of the worst of that community. This is true for all types of communities/societies, including sports fans. Never take those people to be representative of anything.

I can guarantee you this - everyone is welcome in Somaliland, especially all Somalis regardless of where they from and what qabiil they are. Don't take my word for it, go visit and see for yourself. I guarantee you will find Hargeisa to be one of the most welcoming and peaceful cities you will have visited anywhere. Even the most die hard SL independence activists will welcome you. This is true for all SL cities, but I brought up Hargeisa because it is the most cosmopolitan of SL cities where you will find thousands of people from every qabiil imaginable, including Mareexaans.

I can't promise you the same for Burco - them niggas wild. I kid, I kid - though Burco is not for the faint hearted. It has a very unique in your face culture, where they always tell you exactly what they think, good or bad. However, even then it is only kaftan - you would never be unsafe or threatened in any way shape or form.

Don't listen to FKD and do not take to heart what people post online - real life is rarely anything close to the fake bravado and human garbage you find online.

Well no offense but it's not like your passport is that much better than ours. Anyway let's forget passports, reer Somalia can't even get permanent residency in SL and are at risk of being kicked out any time.

If you are referring to the people that were moved of LaasCanood - that community had caused huge levels of crime, making the city particularly dangerous. That was the only basis of that decision - it had nothing to do with them being from Somalia.

No one gets kicked unless they have committed and being convicted of crime. Somaliland does not have the resources to be able to effectively police all immigration statuses of the countless immigrants in the country.

I don't mind that. Even though I'm a unionist I would be willing to keep that to myself If i visit Somaliland since I know it's a hot topic. The point is though that I'm from the western diaspora, I guess reer Somalia refugees have a very different experience.

I'm fine with deporting criminals that is understandable, but didn't they kick out even families kids and women included?

Well i just hope we don't turn into Arabs.
In lebanon some people are xenophobic towards Syrians and Palestinians even though they are both Arabs and both from Shaam. Let's keep it real the political relations between SL and Somalia are pretty bad , basically cold war.

99.9% of people would have no problem with you being a unionist, people have no issues with that whatsoever. As with anywhere else, people welcome respectful disagreement. For example, my in laws' neighbours in Hargeisa are unionist Dhulbahantes and they are often discussing their politics when I have seen them together.

I can 100% guarantee you that no-one mistreats refugees from Somalia in Somaliland. If you can show me actual evidence rather than what people say, i'd believe it.

The entire community was becoming hard to manage, and it was hard to determine who was committing the crimes, so the SL government decided it had to deport everyone. I don't think that was the correct course of action, but it had nothing to do with the people being from Somalia.

I go to burco / hargeisa frequently...

alot of my friends are somali that hail from Somalia, who all have business or work. plus there's soo many people from Somalia who's been there for years or some that just arrived. just be in arrivals at Hargeisa Airport for flights coming from Xamar and ask them, never any issue.

On the ground none of this actually matters. I sat in a cafe with 6 of us on a table. Xamar Gaalkacyo Burco Kismaayo Bosaaso was represented, they all work with no issue

a word on those deportations, there's a reason why it only happened in laascaanod - it was the local authority dealing with a local issue there not a national policy otherwise you would've seen it in the big cities from burco to borama where there is more.

I'm sure if I were to visit Hargeisa the locals would not discriminate against me, we are all the same ethnicity with the same religion and that's what matters. Politics and the case of separation/union should be conducted in a civil peaceful manner

If your paternally not from Somaliland , you shouldn't get full rights lke voting or be allowed to take part in politics, I solute Dir for looking after their interest, do you expect them to make their region free for all pass? , like what Guurguurte did in Jubaland? Viva Somaliland , viva Dir.
