Is the ‘surplus’ of men to blame for the decrease in marriages ? Lack of world wars and this peaceful era to blame?

As we know globally birth rates are declining (arguably a good thing IMO) and there are fewer marriages in all communities regardless of religion, race. Even within Somali community in diaspora there is a general heavy portion who cannot find a partner.

my point is, is it because there are too many men ? Throughout history men have been culled through wars and battles so there was enough to go around. The fact humanity is advanced where this is the most peaceful era of all time (despite the minor skirmishes throughout earth that will always be around) is this to blame ? Too many men where if you go back to any other point, men in every village/town where reduced in numbers with every frequent battle and war where they were sent off by local lords/leaders.

It kind of gives me survivors’ guilt knowing that the vast majority of men throughout history were just expendable powerless trash to be killed and mogged while I’m chilling living in what is essentially luxury (even if I am incel and perpetually mogged among other issues). Sex ratio depends on the country but is largely balanced. There are more men in the world but mainly due to China's one child policy and India's anti-women culture (dowry, farm labour, etc).

plenty of socially conservative societies did just fine having intact family and marriage structure without war going on... are we to deny the blatantly obvious and ignore the destruction of the family structure by liberal social norms?

Yeah China is a different case entirely due to the killing of many daughters during their policy. Still, the point does remain. A lot of men today would not be around if this was 1456 instead of 2023

For the sake of putting morals and religion aside -

It doesn't matter if there's too many men or not, there will always be a biological constant. Each time a man ejaculate, he produces 100m sperm cells and all you need is 1 to create an embryo. For women, they have somewhere 300,000 - 400,000 eggs and 'releases' one every month and needs to happen at specific time windows.

There's a reason why men go out to war, it's because we're biologically expandable.

To answer your question, no, a surplus of men are not the issue for this specific case.

Not necessarily. The fact there is more men than normal, means standards go up. Means the checklist has to increase, metrics go higher. There has to be a cutoff to compensate for the over saturation if that makes sense. It’s very similar to animal kingdom.
The more peacock there are, the female will select the one who has the best feathers.

Lots of marriage quality people don't want to get married. Whether there is a surplus or deficit of men doesn't really matter. Times have changed. Either bf/gf relationships or single or hookups.
