I am almost in completing my studies and I don't want half of my income every month to be taken away from a disgruntled woman when I am working a good job with money.

Is it possible to tell the courts that we were just boyfriend and girlfriend if she ends the marriage so she is not eligible for anything?

A brother I know has divorced his wife and he is paying spousal maintenance on top of child maintenance for the little boy.
