even if we don't have as much oil as countries like Saudi Arabia or Venezuela, fracking seems a way of getting reliable energy. United States became energy independent after fracking and probably don't need Saudi Arabia although still they get some oil from there.

I would rather it not being in the hands of a private corporation which can push extreme profits. Corruption is rife within the goverment, but by allowing private companies be in charge of it the fat cats will only get richer.

i think having a competition of lessen your problem since if multiple companies are competing, they have to offer better quality and also lower prices.
