Is beauty subjective or objective ?

Obviously it's subjective.

If it was objective, we wouldn't be getting different beauty standards through out the world and history.

A man in Mauritania would tell you the fattet the better. A man in China will tell you the slimmer the better. A man in London will tell you he wants a slim woman, who is still curvy.

Tastes vary and they always have. This is why body types, hair and looks are sometimes in fashion and other times not.

What do you guys think ? Personally believe it’s objective

Both. Objective as we have a standard of Beauty among Humanoids- we know when we see a beautiful person- physically i mean.

Subjectibe as we tend to have individualistic measure and defination of Beauty based on our own past history and personality, not to mention "Fetishes"

It's objective but it varies culture to culture. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is bullshit friends and family say to ugly people when they don't want to be too blunt or hurt their feelings:mjlol:

Those girls due to their weight would not be seen as attractive. Fatness makes you look older and changes your face shape and in many ways robs you off your beauty.

In Mauritania Halima Aden and and Tyra wouldn't be seen as beautiful. Funnily enough a interviewer went to Mauritania and showed the locals Western magazines and the locals found the women on the covers unattractive. Why? Because they were too slim for them.

If Lizzo was a bit ligher, she would be seen as pretty in Mauritania. Majority of the women in the fattening hut wanted to become her size.

You need to understand that beauty in the world and history is so much more than Western beauty standards.

Why is it back home in someparts they like ilka caase whilst here in the West we think that is disgusting and simply stained teeth?

@Basra take on this was excellent.

I also want to point out we’re living on a diversity scale; this Beauty subjection thing went on a whole new level.

People are now adapting to fetishisation thanks to po*nographic consumption.

Lust is the new love

fetish is the new preference.

We’re no longer living on a traditional time; where Beauty was the new exotic.

How can something that varies be 'objective'?
It varies due to people from different cultural backgrounds finding certain traits/features attractive, but beauty itself is objective. You can literally take a ruler out and measure beauty lol, facial symmetry etc.

There's entire youtube channels and professions dedicated to this shit.

Beauty is both objective and subjective. When it comes to normal individuals who take good care of themselves, beauty is subjective and varies from individual taste to different cultural beauty standards. An overweight woman is usually considered unattractive in the West but in certain countries and regions of the world, she would be considered attractive and what every man wants. Nowadays because of television and the spread of Western culture through social media, men liking thick woman is becoming popular and it might become international.

As for objective beauty then I think we can all agree that certain individuals are objectively unattractive and ugly. For example, if someone’s face looks like some killer doll out of a horror movie, irrespective of what culture you come from, I think we can all consider that ugly. Sure, there are rare weird individuals who would find that attractive but nearly every human (99.9%) of all groups consider that unattractive and ugly.

Beauty is objective.
That's why even settings like preschool, teachers subconsciously favour the cutest kid in class as in one with the "most physically attractive traits"..

Who we are sexually attracted to is subjective but who most people will agree to be beautiful is objective imo..
