I wasn’t planning on replying to this, but I’ll say this briefly: crying about racism and engaging in SJW-style whining is honestly cringe. Same goes for respectability politics , trying to 'fit in' or earn respect by being overly polite or proving your worth to people with deep-rooted biases rarely changes anything.
Many groups face discrimination no matter how successful, moral, or 'respectable' they try to be. The focus for Somalis should be on building power and becoming undeniable not arguing for validation.
Power, wealth, and influence are the real equalizers. Own your resources. Get into elite spaces , universities, business, politics. Build your own media platforms.
Don’t get dragged into back and forth online drama. Trying to constantly fight narratives only gives them more oxygen. Look at Omar the outrage campaign against him just made more people support him. Now he’s gaining real momentum.
My advice, as a parting note, Somalis should focus on faith, education, physical health, and self-reliance.
Build power, not arguments. Be undeniable through presence, not protest.
You can't control how everyone sees you but you can control how you move, what you build, and how your community rises.
Could’ve said it better myself. Well said. It’s also interesting how Elon musk has brought Twitter and turn into a cesspool of hate. Every minorities are all shitting on each other. Blacks, Asians and Hispanics. And this became an amusement for the powerful rich.

We shouldn’t dwell on it too much , it honestly feels repetitive at this point to keep complaining, especially since these platforms are built to amplify outrage. That’s what they thrive on.
I think what we’ll see is a split in society: people who stay on these platforms and those who disconnect. And their lives will reflect that difference. The ones who disconnect will probably be out in the real world, building something more meaningful for themselves.
Same with Somalis. I personally choose to engage with my community offline: through family, the mosque, local businesses, community events, or extracurriculars. That’s where the positive energy and real growth is. Social media, especially political spaces, is often just noise. It’s best to avoid it where you can.

I've noticed that Somali boys especially in the diaspora have no regard for their ethnic dignity and humanity, they think self deprecating and humiliating jokes are funny. They even created that racist "how you know I'm Somali" caricature and now it's being used against us getting thousands of likes on Twitter.
But @Idilinaa is right, it's all noise no point engaging with their racism. Just straight up report and move on. They thrive off the engagement of negativity thanks to Elon monetizing hate by paying out per tweet. Complaining and whining about it won't change anything. We just need to continue to focus on us and build real power by getting into elite spaces such as starting new businesses, politics, universities, careers in key sectors like technology, engineering, and healthcare, where the real power lies. Who cares about the noise on social media.
Wallahi it’s sad but facts. Too many Somali boys out here memeing themselves into clown status. It’s like they’ve internalized every insult and now they perform it for likes. That 'how you know I’m Somali' BS is literally a minstrel show at this point.I've noticed that Somali boys especially in the diaspora have no regard for their ethnic dignity and humanity, they think self deprecating and humiliating jokes are funny.
