Interview by famous somali historian mohamed haji mukhtar

I just finished watching this interview where they talked with Mohamed haji mukhtatr that famous somali historian. Several intresting tidbits in the video that he mentions especially the names of former southern somali saints who apparently lived in the 12/13th century. As well as the massive amount of tombs in the south.

Although it seems he still believes in that theory of the 10th century islamization and so does cabdullah mansur. they do raise an intresting question that I never thought of before. Which is why did somalis trace their ancestry to aqeel? It seems like such a strange figure to choose. His only real claim to fame is being eloquent and apparently really good at genealogy. The choice couldn't have been random .
