not only is it a bid'ah but they are even using it as a pretext to extort Yemenis....
The terrorist Houthi militia, in its areas of control in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, imposed huge amounts of money on merchants, shops, stalls, and cars.
This is under the name of celebrating the Prophet’s birthday, which falls on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal every year.
And just before the anniversary of the “Birth of the Prophet,” the cities under the control of the Houthi militia turn into a green carnival with the money of the hungry, the organized looting of people’s resources, and extortion from them under the pretext of birthday celebrations.
Local sources told Al-Marsa News that Houthi supervisors in the districts of Hodeidah forced merchants and shop owners to pay sums ranging from 50 to 200 thousand riyals for the Mawlid celebrations.
The sources stated that the Houthi militia imposed on the owners of cars and stalls to pay sums of money ranging from 5,000 thousand to 10,000 thousand riyals.
The sources indicated that the militia also imposed sums between 100 and 300 thousand riyals on the farmers, under the pretext of celebrating the Prophet’s birthday.
According to the sources, the Houthis forced employees in the government sector, such as oil, ports, communications and customs, to deduct a day's premium in favor of celebrating the birthday.
The militiaba instructed the directors of the executive offices in the governorate, in addition to the private companies and shops, to hang green banners along the facades of their offices and shops, along the streets and sidewalks opposite them, and they punished those who violated that, according to the sources.
The Houthi militia uses religious events, including the celebration of the Prophet's birthday, as a cover to impose large levies and royalties, as the militia imposed on citizens and school and university students to pay sums of money to commemorate the religious occasion.
and speaking of bid'ah...
there's actually more pictures of this but I'm not posting the other ones I saw because they included shirtless people doing this green skin thing......
this is terrible. there's nothing in Islam about painting your skin green. myself as a person who is concerned about the chemicals in some of the products that are used, I wonder about the effects whatever is in the green paint might have.
