In the name of "the Prophet's birthday"... the Houthi militia looted Hodeidah

The terrorist Houthi militia, in its areas of control in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, imposed huge amounts of money on merchants, shops, stalls, and cars.

This is under the name of celebrating the Prophet’s birthday, which falls on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal every year.

And just before the anniversary of the “Birth of the Prophet,” the cities under the control of the Houthi militia turn into a green carnival with the money of the hungry, the organized looting of people’s resources, and extortion from them under the pretext of birthday celebrations.

Local sources told Al-Marsa News that Houthi supervisors in the districts of Hodeidah forced merchants and shop owners to pay sums ranging from 50 to 200 thousand riyals for the Mawlid celebrations.

The sources stated that the Houthi militia imposed on the owners of cars and stalls to pay sums of money ranging from 5,000 thousand to 10,000 thousand riyals.

The sources indicated that the militia also imposed sums between 100 and 300 thousand riyals on the farmers, under the pretext of celebrating the Prophet’s birthday.

According to the sources, the Houthis forced employees in the government sector, such as oil, ports, communications and customs, to deduct a day's premium in favor of celebrating the birthday.

The militiaba instructed the directors of the executive offices in the governorate, in addition to the private companies and shops, to hang green banners along the facades of their offices and shops, along the streets and sidewalks opposite them, and they punished those who violated that, according to the sources.

The Houthi militia uses religious events, including the celebration of the Prophet's birthday, as a cover to impose large levies and royalties, as the militia imposed on citizens and school and university students to pay sums of money to commemorate the religious occasion.

there's actually more pictures of this but I'm not posting the other ones I saw because they included shirtless people doing this green skin thing......

this is terrible. there's nothing in Islam about painting your skin green. myself as a person who is concerned about the chemicals in some of the products that are used, I wonder about the effects whatever is in the green paint might have.

Houthi circulars to allocate sectarian programs in schools in 3 Yemeni governorates

The group stresses the annual levies in the name of “the Prophet’s birthday”

In parallel with the inauguration of the annual collection season in the name of the celebrations of the Prophet’s birthday, the Houthi militia has obliged its elements in the education sector to circulate to hundreds of public and private schools in three Yemeni governorates to start allocating programs and intellectual and tactical activities that target the brains and minds of students, in addition to decorating schools with green paint, and placing slogans of a similar nature. sectarian, donate money in support of the occasion.

Yemeni educational sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that Houthi leaders in the governorates of Amran, Ibb and Hajjah have issued new circulars obligating directors of branches of education offices in the directorates, principals of schools, and heads of departments of sectarian activities to harness all their efforts and energies for the so-called celebration of the anniversary of the Prophet's birthday.

Yemeni activists circulated on social media platforms a document issued by the person impersonating the director of the Education Office in Amran Governorate (north of Sana'a) obliging education offices and schools in about 20 directorates affiliated with the governorate to prepare special schedules that include school activities and programmes, decorating schools and painting their walls green with slogans that promote Houthi projects.

The document included obligating educators and school students to prepare school radio programs that promote the ideas of the group and sanctify its leader and his dynasty and their entitlement to rule the Yemenis. It also obligated educational officials to document the media, intensively promote the activities of the militias, and submit daily reports on them.

This move, which affects the education sector, was met with strong condemnation and rejection by teachers and students of their parents' schools.

In their interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, teachers and parents expressed their refusal for the militias to continue committing various violations against education in the context of their efforts to divert this sector from its path and turn it from an educational and enlightening edifice into centers for indoctrination of sectarian ideas.

They pointed out that the militias usually intensify their abuses against schools, students, and educational workers before and after receiving and holding any sectarian event, but they expand their targeting more every time they celebrate the anniversary of the "Proph's birthday," as the occasion turns into political, military, and intellectual mobilization.

Exploitation of occasions

In addition, the Houthi group turns the occasion of the anniversary of (the Prophet's birthday) every year into a season for collecting billions from various governmental and private sectors in all areas of its control, as this time it began to start targeting the governmental and private educational sector in its areas of control.

Educational sources revealed to Asharq Al-Awsat that the Houthi militia imposed financial levies on hundreds of public and private schools in the governorates of Ibb and Hajjah, and about 53 of their directorates, in support of the occasion.

The militias obligated all public and private schools in Hajjah and Ibb to donate an amount between 50,000 and 100,000 Yemeni riyals (the dollar is equivalent to about 530 riyals), as it goes into the pockets of senior militia leaders, and schools that fail to pay vowed severe penalties.

The sources expected that the financial royalties that the Houthi militia will impose on schools in the rest of the governorates and cities under their control will double in the coming days.

The Yemeni government has previously accused the militias of exploiting religious events to loot Yemenis' money and perpetuate extremist ideas.

The Yemeni Minister of Information, Muammar Al-Eryani, stated in previous statements that religious holidays and events have become seasons run by the militias to practice illegal collection and blackmail the Yemenis by moving from house to house to plunder their savings, after their salaries and livelihoods were looted and even the food aid provided to them was confiscated.

The Yemeni minister pointed out that the Houthi group continues to exploit these occasions to collect billions to fund what it calls the "war effort", while millions of citizens in the capital, Sana'a, and the rest of its areas of control live under the line of poverty and famine.
