I would say the reason somaliland first joined Somalia was because the British was about to give somaliland to Ethiopia. The country that has the most to gain from somalilands independence is Ethiopia. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ethiopia invaded somaliland for its ports, and tbh would anyone in the region help? Especially after the LA situation.

Somaliland and its government loves to hate Somalia, but if you look at what Ethiopia has done to the Ogedan Somalis, Somaliland should focus on integration, before another Genocide happens by the Ethiopians.

what do you guys think? Somaliland is like the wife who hates her husband, divorces him because she listens to her friends, and she ends up in an even more brutal relationship.

Somalia will have to fight if Ethiopia invades. If somaliland is a considered part of Somalia then why tf would we let our land get attacked? I understand this simmering clan BS that these niggas fight over but there is never going to be a universe where we allow our land to taken over by savages who burn and pillage each others cities over ethnic lines.

There is no way on God's green earth Somalia should let that happen? Sacrificing a state for another would just create another crazy internal conflict. And it won't be hargeisa or berbera getting attacked, it's probably going to be saylac. The ones trying to leave somaliland. Not a single inch of land should be given. Arent you just embarrassed. all this focus on somaliand and its the one debt free, not reliant on foriegn charity and foreign security. In your analogy its the husband with his own business with zero debt and somalia is the wife up to her eyeballs in debt selling herself around town for handouts. Not to mention ethiopia literially strolled to mogdishiso in 2006-9 at the invite of the then president. If anyone is letting the team down its been somalia. I will acknowledge L.A was also letting the team down from somaliland. But really what should have happened is somalia should have emulated somaliland for the last 20 years became debt free, unreliant on foriegn charity and then we could have come together to form an equal partnership in which the capital was moved and the presidency yielded for the first two terms as concessions. But budgets with 90% funded by foriegn aid who can take that seriously.

SL independence simply won't happen. The west has spent too long stitch the nation back together to allow it to break apart and go up in flames. They'll be dragged to the negotiation table where both sides will be force to make concessions before the book is finally closed on the matter. But if SL was to be invaded then have no doubt, the somali will fight for it. Regardless of our issues we'll be damned if we let those raw meant munchers take more ethnic Somali land.
