I would also like to add; male cannibals did exist too. But, I think the female cannibals used to outnumber them. Here are the names of some famous Dadqals. For some strange reason, all of them were active in Sanaag and Nugaal:
Heesaaye, Madax Gorof, Dheyla Laiilaaf(From Erigavo), Halowle, Dhagaaga-fadhi(LOL), Gadhhaye, Baaciye(from Nugaal, he used to hunt together with 2 female cannibals), Cadoowe(originally from Togdheer, but migrated to Sanaag and beyond).

Unfortunately, this was the fate of many Somali women, especially the ones who failed at being "women" aka divorcees, widows, unmarried older women, magicians, old ladies with no one to take care of them.

It was common to kick out unmarried women after a certain age. They had to look for husbands on their own.
The concept of moving back home wasn't a thing, so many divorcees and widows(if dumaal wasn't an option) were shunned even by their own so-called families, "ku noqo halkaad timid" they used to be told. Divorce was a literal death sentence and women used to avoid it at all costs. They would rather endure all kinds of abuse from their husbands than living in duurduurka like savages.

Qabil and tolnimo only benefited men. The women had no system to fall back on, that was the harsh reality back then, and still is today, to a lesser extent.

The last female cannibal was killed by the british in the late 1890s.

Well a lot has not changed I see. Folks still want women to get married by a certain age and have to resort to savage behavior.
