It was an online test
The first part consisted of reading and translating a long ass document written in incomprehensible, formal sounding Somali into English in two minutes. Skipped that

The second part contained about 40 "rapid fire" Somali to English and English to Somali interpretations. The Somali was recorded by a dude with a thick Waqoyi accent who kept using regional terms for everything. I think I might have gotten maybe 1/2 right at best.

And the English was difficult to translate into Somali too. What is Somali for "county"? Deegaan? How to say "Exhibit 3, A of the Evidence" ?

I could have gotten paid $40 an hour had I passed this

Pray for me, there's a chance they'll still let me get the job even if I fucked everything up. the recruiter said I only needed to get 50% right.

Is this for courts? Or just social services?

If you're real Somali speaker you should be able to translate Somali spoken by most Af Maxaa speaking Somalis. Even really thick reer Xamar accents and soft Af Maaya (spoken by people who live in Baydhabo, for example) should be intelligible to you. Otherwise, you don't really speak Somali.

I have no problem understanding any Af Maxaa speaking Somali whether reer Waqooyi, Djabouti, Xamarawi, or reer Galbeed. Hell, I even known regional words such:

Musqul/suulli = washroom
Laxoox/canjeelo = Somali pancakes
Qorax/cadceed = sun
Galbeed/qoraxsin = west

So, folks learn your mother tongue and stop the calaacal.
