620k in Berbera???

620k in Berbera???

Yep. A lot of people don’t realize how much urbanization Somalia has gone through in the past few decades, mostly because there’s very little retrospective coverage showing the progress.

Instead, you still see people online repeating the same old lines like ‘we destroyed our country’, as if Somalia is frozen in 1993 ,when in reality, the country has gone through a nationwide construction and urban development boom.

According to the 2020 Household Budget Survey, around 64% of the population now lives in towns and cities, covering 114 towns and 30 major urban centers.

Your list is shit where’s my hometown Bosaso you gotta be on pure unfiltered Ketamine if you think cities like Merca or Wanlaweyn are more populated

They're not more populated than Bosaaso. But I think they chose Merca because it's ancient city, it's historical city probably 1,500 years old and it's still standing.

No chance on earth that Berbera is bigger than Borama. Your takes are great but this time you're definitely incorrect.

Burco, Gabiley, Erigavo and probably Wajaale are all bigger than Berbera.

Its from the latest revision of the UN World Urbanization Prospects but they include the surrounding areas into it though. The site is down atm

But you can still find it quoted here:

Most of the population increase in Berbera has been happening recently, it's been seeing a revival due the fact of increased trade, port development, fishing activity and they are building an industrial zone.

The whole Berbera district had a population of 60k in the last decade. Look at the UN population review in 2005.

World Population Review doesn't draw the data from the sources it mentions. It's one of those websites. I would not rely on it. Burco is 10 times bigger than Berbera. Even Erigavo is bigger.
