Can I say this ? Why is it when an ethnic group who are proud of their facial features are assumed to be “featurist” or now it’s implied that it’s racist ?
Is it now considered a bad thing when I see the Somali chidlren in the place I work at, and think wow mashallah they’re so nice to look at compared to the boring white and Arab children?
Now it’s considered a racial thing to think that smh.

There was the stupid tik tok challenge that asked people what phenotype on them do they like or at once point didnt ?I swear the only time I ever heard the word “phenotype” is from Somalis.
Please tell me that I’m not the only one.
They had Indian or middle eastern girls with their large noses saying they’re proud of the nose that society tells them is not beautiful.
This Chinese woman said she’s now proud of her eye shape, considering many have made jokes about it and told her to get the double eye lid surgery.
The Irish woman use to not like her red hair, pale skin, and freckles due to hearing ginger jokes and now embraces it
Everyone in the comments praised them.
The second a Somali woman did the challenge and said she loves her nose and her cheekbones and baby hairs……
They dragged her for being racist and featurist and it’s like huh ? How can she be be racist when she loves her natural features ?
Fellow African and black girls went in on her. Talking about .. “ well you only like your nose cause your people have small ones and that’s based on European standard of beauty.”
I never smh before in my life. How the hell is it white standard of beauty when it’s natural to us ? Those women going in on her were just jealous for things they wish to have.
Cause those same women will contour and use makeup on their noses to make it smaller smh.

Because they talk about it online and use it to bash madows, that is why. There is pride and then there is an unjustified superiority complex hinged deep down with low-self esteem.
It’s like the only thing going for them is their thin noses. They talk about ‘phenotype’ like they’re an 18th century British scientists/anthropologist.
By all means be proud. In fact I believe that people form the horn are the most beautiful people, but you don’t need to go on twitter calling people monkeys, talking about skull shapes and mocking those who Allah created with different features.
What makes it even more embarrassing is that look at their state of our nation? And it’s MEN discussing this. Your age mates are building, creating businesses and contributing to the advancement of their people and this is what you want to waste your time doing?!
Ngl, phenotype sounds cute when using it to describe fruit flies in a genetics lab lakiin waa cringy how our "caucasoid" skull-having madoows use it to look down on their fellow africans..

Yes I like to think it’s not a bad thing to think the Somali chidlren ( and the other African students as well ) are very nice looking.
Why are you thinking it’s an issue cause I said compared to the white and Arab kids vs your own people ?
Sister thanks for clarifying it. Of course there’s people within our culture who call other monkeys and gorillas and use our features to put down others but wlalahi that girl didn’t do that. She simply followed the challenge and said what features she liked about herself.
If anything it’s the insecurities of those other girls who bashed her and suddenly said “those Somalians always think they features the shitt..” when she didn’t say anything bad.
Our people and other hornets are very beautiful and unique looking but it’s now considered a bad thing to say that since we got some people within our community being racist online and attacking others.
I totally get you sis, but what I don’t get is the guy above me who thought it’s a bad thing that I make sure to complement the Somali students when I always see the some of the other teachers ( some are Arab and Asian ) praising the white and Arab children and never doing that to the other African students, including the Somalis. So why he pressed that I think it’s ok to tell them how pretty they are and uplift them ?
