I Desire to Leave the West and Live as a Nomad

I put Books to the Test of Life
I've been toying with the idea of disappearing for a good two years now, residing in the obscure corners of Badiyo. But before I embark on my rehabilitation odyssey, I intend to embark on a pilgrimage of a different kind. First, Umrah and Hajj will be my spiritual waypoints, and then I plan to venture deep into the rugged terrains of Somali countrysides, embracing the raw essence of life, awakening my senses, and absorbing the harsh realities that await me. It's a journey I've meticulously planned, one that promises a profound transformation.

Who among you dares to accompany me on this expedition? May the eyes of cowards never sleep

People often romanticise that life because they are dissatisfied with their current life. There is a reason why they leave that lifestyle the second they got a chance to.

I find myself in a state of immense gratitude, acknowledging my present circumstances. I offer my thanks to the Creator both at the break of dawn and the fall of night for the abundant blessings bestowed upon me. Having been born into a privileged upper-class family, I have never experienced dissatisfaction, nor have I ever encountered the bitter taste of misfortune.

Every Somali residing in the West ought to undergo a two-year service in Badiyo. I have relatives there, and my brother used to spend his summers there. It's a transformative experience, enhancing your strength and providing tranquility, grounding you in reality. From the fresh milk you drink to the animals you consume, every aspect of life feels authentic. He often spoke of the remarkably clear and close sky, and the air so pure it makes you feel truly alive.

Same but Iโ€™d rather be a farmer

Instead of doing a Somali version of Seven Years in Tibet, why donโ€™t you use all of the blessings Allah (swt) gave you in the West and sponsor a few orphans in Somalia?

And you can activate the same senses by simply walking bare foot in the grass of a park or your back garden, since I do believe โ€˜Earthingโ€™ can have a beneficial effect on your mental and physical health.

I did something similar when I went back home to the family farm, it was enjoyable, with fresh mangoes at every corner, camel milk and amazing goat meat, a complete detox from the western lifestyle for 2 months.
