I’m not a fan of the name, but I welcome this. Does anyone know if this airport will have a xalane part 2? Also, I hope they make the airport look nice and modern to an international standard. I’m sick and tired of getting catfished by AI photos.

I've always heard that Siyaad barre wanted to build an airport north from the Gubadley/Waxarcade area around the area were the new hormuud qubuuro is. I know of a lot of HG who bought a ton of land from Abgaal goofley around that area in the hopes that it will become prime estate when the airport is built.

Btw @Devilsadvocate the area around the new airport will be like the new Number 4 most likely, hotels, businesses, embassies, UN and who knows Xalane 2.0. Unless the government uses it only for civilians and leaves aadan cadde for the international delegations.

I think the most important thing is moving the port. I was in Xamar last summer and having a port in the center of the city is an absolute nightmare. The trucks are loud, block the street, and make it hard to get across the city. More money should go into the port than the airport, including new roads such as a ring highway around Xamar. This will mean that trucks that want to go south of Mogadishu don’t need to actually go through the city. That will limit congestion in the city massively and ease the traffic burden.

I’m a little bit wary of the Turks building/owning the port. Candidly speaking, they haven’t done a great job in infrastructure management in Xamar thus far, especially when you compare Mogadishu’s port to Berbera. Relocating the port should make it more efficient but the gov should be smart about how they allocate the funds (which they won’t be lmao)

Area around the new airport will be nice for any diaspora who want to invest but don’t want to be in the heart of Xamar. It won’t replace KM4 but it’ll offer a more quiet area outside of the city. I also think it’ll be more diverse than we think. HSM doesn’t care about qabiil he cares about money. He will sell off land around the new airport to wealthy Abgaal/Murusade/HG businessmen and the demographics will reflect that. It’ll be a little pocket of South Mogadishu in Shabelle Dhexe.
