EAC deal is good. More Somalis will be able to do trade and study in these countries. Hore u soco:banderas:

Piece of shit tripartite agreement did nothing for us. No scholarships or anything for our people. Half assed military training by failed state Eritrea and deploying our shacab to die in Mekelle:comeon:

If we join the EAC, it would put a halt to plans for this bloc to become one country in the form of a federation. Also likely is that even whilst a member of EAC until Somalia fully recovers, economic integration (a customs union, single currency, free movement of people/goods/services/capital etc) cannot realistically happen

Well this is definitely an improvement from the tripartite qashin. But in my opinion its too early for us to join a common market we dont export much and we import far more goods than a poor nation like us normally can sustain. The only reason we are afloat is the diaspora injecting foreign currencies into our economy via Xawalas. Without them everything would collapse

We should start with enhancing our agricultural output while focusing on finding a cheap and abundant energy source. Then we can move onto creating a domestic industry that should be nurtured under protectionist policies until its superior compared to the goods produced on the region.

Freedom of movement and single currency are for developed nations with similar banking sector and societal values. We as a muslim nation cannot be integrated with a gaal block to that extent.

I agree the Eritrea relations was stupid, and I agree this one is definitely better, just from the public image of Eritrea vs the Bantu nations in East Africa, however any collaboration we need to know the specifics soma ahan.

something tells me the Bantu supremacist Christians are not really looking out for our best interest or even mutual interest, so I want to know the specifics, what are the obligations and what does this offer, flowery words like open market makes zero sense to Somalia and anyone with a basic understanding of either business or economics can tell you that. Instead what is worrying me about this deal is a push back on Atmis, remember we want AMISOM to leave and the previous government worked hard to kick start the process with Atmis.

Anyway None of you are mature enough to have a real conversation, everyone is going to be against the deal because they hate HSM or pro the deal because they love HSM

I dont think Africans understand mutual interest Id be very wary of any deals with them. I hope this talk just secures EAC memberahip as an open path that is available for Somalia in the future. But right now I dont think is the right time for us to be joining common markets. My opinion but hey I dont have all the facts so we will see iA.

What is the point of our parliament if they are not even discussing Somalia joining the EAC? Not putting it up for a vote? It is like HSM just decided one day I’m going to go Tanzania and ask to join the EAC without consulting anyone. This will have huge ramifications for all federal states, where foreign companies will easily be able to outcompete with local businesses. Free movement of people. Same currency. One army. One court, whilst wee don’t even have a constitution. The whole thing is ridiculous.

You have to understand in terms of corruption. These dogs are only working for their pockets and , sometimes their immediate sub sub clan.

Somalia doesn't exist, it's now an empty drum filled with rats. EAC is just an excuse for HSM to loot the nation and also allow them to overrule ICJ in favour of Kenya.

These corrupt animals don't understand anything but their pocket. Best ignore it and ban any from reaching our regions.

What is mean Somalia joining EAC

1- Free access to somalia's ports tax-free and the Somali Waters would be legally open to the EAC members for fishing and right of usage.

2- Automatically Somalia will became member of East Africa Court of Justice which has jurisdiction of any disputes over state members ( example, land or ocean border disputes between Somalia and Kenya).

3- free of movements, anyone from the EAC can come to somalia and settle here, EAC has over 295 million which will make somalia a minority in a sea of ppl who have different values and culture.

4- Somalia will Join EA Parliament which makes Somalia "minority" since all other members share same identity, culture, Values and religious.

5- Economic disaster for local somali businesses.

6- Swahili will be a dominant language

7- ATMIS troops will be legal wing of East African Joint Military Force.

yep, if somalia does join EAC is nothing more then a glorified ECOWAS or SADC. It will be just too culturally seperated to be a federation, adding in Congo who are even other bantus was a push, south sudan was throwing it to the maximum, a horn country in it? That prospect is closed for good.
