political influence? They play crucial role, they Turkish gov are under pressure by the media about this incident. The opposition probably will take advantage, and see the anti somali rhetoric in Turkish media and politics. Why the president will sacrifice all of that for the sake of his son?

I don’t know if you noticed but with HSM helming the country, the Turkish-Somali relationship cooled down after he signed contradictory security agreements with the Emiratis, and by not throwing the law against his son, the Turks are probably using this opportunity to their advantage to get some long term assurances on their military and economic projects, hence that meeting today. They are prepared to withstand domestic pressure in Turkey to achieve overseas geopolitical goals. Similarly HSM is ready to play ball with the Turks to protect what is most likely an entitled and corrupt son, responsible for the death of a hardworking father.
