My mom was just watching Universal TV and she sees Puntland President on TV.

She tells me: He went to my school Ugaas Farax (or whatever I heard) and he lived a few doors down from me in Xamar Jabjab.

:dwill:

Everyone lived in Xamar.

You're forgetting a goat herder of Shilaabo, Ethiopia became president of Somalia with an iron fist for 2 decades.

FYI, I am Elaay

I think Xamar was large for somali standards of what a population centre was.

Several of my reer-abti the Cidagale had secound homes in Xamar
My grand father moved his family there so my mother grew up their for a few years of her childhood.

A lot of people moved to Xamarweyne. Original inhabitants were Banadir, I believe.

As a percentage of the total population of Somalia, more people lived in Mogadishu back then than they do now.
Somalia was almost a city-state with just Mogadishu.

The fall of Mogadishu led to the rise of Hargeisa, Burco, Berbera, Bosaso, Garowe, Gaalkacyo.
