It wasn’t as political, since many things got censored. Also, Twitter was heavily censored to the point where I would get banned for a week for using simple curse words.

I first got on Twitter during the fandom days in like 2012 but I stopped like 2015ish. Those days were really the days wallahi, people were wild and had no filter but it was all in good humour not this agenda ridden BS you are seeing nowadays. I remember the follow trains, people begging celebs to follow them back, when favourites used to be a star instead of a heart etc etc.

Twitter used to be for sharing ur thoughts and just cracking jokes and having fun. Now it’s full of wanna-be investigative journalists and “commentators” who only ever talk about the opposite side of the political spectrum. Both sides are full of miserable lowlifes, it’s sad asf how polarized it’s become and it’s not even an enjoyable platform idk how TF anyone uses that garbage wallahi. All the trends 24/7 are related to politics, don’t even get me started on the “for you page”having a Twitter account rn basically is a sign of depression and BPD no offense. Nothing good comes out of that app, only drama and chaos

Inthe uk it was always bad and racist (although racism died aroind 2016 but now it's gotten much much worse.

I use it to keep up with fields and topics I am interested in, such as 2D/3D animation, mathematics, filmmaking, programming etc etc

There are so many things, I would not have discovered without it, such as Alan Moore - Storytelling or the once in a lifetime Sabin Howard Mentorship programme

Its a live newsletter for just the things you care for. If you live in some backwater and are completely insulated from potential peers, word of mouth, it is indispensable.

Like most things, it can be a valuable tool or a detriment. I have spent some time tuning it to avoid degenerates and "pundits"

A simple script filters out tweets with words like transgender, trump, femboy, liberals, conservative so they never show up. If they some how pass through, I block that person.

Another script disables and hides 99% of the UI and garbage like "views", "retweets", "likes" etc etc.

So I cant say, one way or another, if it has gotten worse.

It was better back then. Had far less bots and less open racism. Censorship wasn’t even that bad.

what people sayis that twitter was better before elon, no it was not. it was terrible. I agree with what Internet nomad said. When elon bought twitter everyone was so relieved by now elon, hes the richest guy on earth what did you expect him to do
