What do you guys do to maintain kushuu in prayer I’m always thinking about random stuff and stories and imagining scenarios in my head. I don’t know if it’s because I don’t understand the Quran being read in taraweh or if I’m too distracted. I recall last few years I was able to concentrate and even felt really emotional in prayers I get worried when I see everyone cry in the prayers and I can’t except when I’m feeling in the mood otherwise no tears come but my heart feels it.

I follow the ayaat. I can understand upto 40% of the Quran

We use to have a Somali Imam but now we have this Moroccan who reads is warsh. I will go to a mosque where there's a Somali imam.

Get a kitaab and try to follow the shaykh

Yh I’ll give that a go

Happens to most. Try your best to focus
I try to focus and I manage then a second later I’m out

Yeah walahi when they slow Down at the end of the ayah and you think it's time for rukuuc but then they continue and finish another page :damn:

You'll have to learn the meaning of what's being recited, this playlist will help you tremendously to reach that goal very quickly.

The riwayah of 'Hafs 'an 'Aasim in Somalia was introduced fairly recently. Some of our fathers, and most surely our forefathers, used to read in the riwayah of Abii 'Amr. I didn't know that until recently. Explains why when I thought my macalin made a mistake when we did subac, it was mostly him confusing Abii 'Amr for 'Hafs 'an 'Aasim kkkkkk

To the OP, as those above have suggested, understanding is the key necessary to keep concentration. But even if you know the meaning, you can sometimes lose concentration. One thing I do to avoid this is to learn new supplications to read in rukuu' and sujuud so I have to be alert when reciting them. Secondly, when I supplicate, I try to take it slowly so that the supplication really comes from the heart. The Prophet

is reported to have said: "And now that Allaah certainly does not accept a prayer from a distracted heart" [Tirmidhi]. Yes, most scholars classified the 'Hadiith as weak, but the meaning is correct nonetheless.

And the last thing is to really prepare yourself for the prayer in good time and occupy your time with the Qur'aan or dhikr the minutes before the prayer so to not have others things in the mind.

But of course, it is easier said than done. Struggling and trying to conctrate in the prayer is in itself an act for which a person will be rewarded.

first and foremost make prep by wiping away any disractions before you pray revise the surah you are reciting in English in your head to understand the meaning also think of various situation that includes allah such as his magnificent creation how he guided you to prayers how he shows Rahman towards mankind etc. Also think that the Lord of all the world is right infront of you witnessing your prayer all of that will help you get rid of the distractions you are facing
