How do turn the somali desert into farmland?

I have been hearing a lot of Somalis saying that "we should reclaim farmland from the desert" but how do you do that?
Can someone here explain, that knows about reclamation of farmland?

You need a lot of water and a lot of seedlings and a lot of effort. There's nature you just can't change, it's meant to be a desert in most of Somalia.

That can be reclaimed as can degraded land. But it takes effort and a lot of manpower. It's one of those projects people do for the common good. It also needs protection for the common good.

Somalia doesn't have the money to spare for something like that. I don't see this happening on a mass scale. You don't make money off of planting trees in a desert but I could be wrong.

With enough money it can happen. Common misconception is that Somalia is a desert which is false. Most of Somalia is arid/semi-arid which is much easier to work with than a desert
