How do the terrorist leaders in Somalia convince sane people to blow themselves up in crowded locations?

I don't know how these old men convince young guys/girls to cut their lives short for the false promises of heaven and 72 virgin brides. How can a mortal grant paradise? Why don't these leaders go to paradise first if they can gift them? How can they convince sane people to just end their lives for promises that can't be ascertained? Why don't they seek the 72 virgins themselves instead of promising these young kids?

The guy that blew himself up in the Mogadishu gelato place was paid 5 days ahead of his death and was able to quickly spend it in that short period. He saved some for his relatives and spent the rest on s and illicit drugs. He was able to pray his last prayers before he booked out of this world to chase those 72 virgins promised by his Emir. Many of their leaders have top class degrees from well known Universities. Their former Emir was an Economist by training and even held a Master's degree. He was not the only one too. Many of them have a well grounded Islamic knowledge and other expertise in different fields of study.

They can't all be from poor families. The poverty in Somalia isn't as bad as Ethiopia and most Somalis have generous relatives.
