How do people balance gym with Ramadan

Been making some progress at the gym for a while now but Ramadan messed up pretty much everything. I used to go in an hour after I eat lunch so around 4 or 5 and this was the time I found l worked best. Obviously I can’t do that anymore so I decided to go right after Iftaar do a quick hour sesh freshen up and go taraweh but as soon as I got in l had 0 energy to do anything and was half dead the whole time. I ended up leaving halfway between (lve never done that before) and just went taraweh instead.

I also eat way too much at iftaar or I’ll just be hungry and none of it is good food.

I’ve heard people say Ramadan will be the end of your gains but l never took it seriously. All that progress down the drain in a single month is long

Drink a protein shake after your suhoor then work out during the mid morning around 11-12, that’s what I did yesterday and felt normal. I get hungry usually 3-4pm so finishing the workout as soon as possible is better for me atleast

I'd go around 11pm-2am .now no gyms have open 24h ,because of covid :ileycry:

It all depends, some people also train during iftar & break fast at the gym with dates, bananas & of course water.

Meh I haven’t went this pass couple of weeks and don’t plan on going during Ramadan. You will get ur gains back quickly esp due to muscle memory. Don’t be so worried

Stop eating snacks and eat right even during Ramadan. Ramadan is a good time to lose weight, eat right, and stop bad habits that stop you from reaching your goal.

im struggling this ramadan too but these tips should help:

-eat high calorie dense foods or make shakes that are really high in calories
- find a sweet spot for when you would like to train (some prefer before, after iftaar or even before suhoor)
- Hydrate and drink a gallon of water
- Take alot of supplements and multivitamins
- Train 60% of your 1RM and do it for like 5 reps
- Rest more during ur rest intervals
-NEVER DO CARDIO (only light cardio but dont go too hard on yourself)
- eat in a caloric surplus if you want to maintain or gain a little lean mass or stay in a caloric deficit if you wanna lose some weight

If i was you just make this a mini cutting session and TRY to maintain muscle mass. You are very unlikely to make ANY type of gains and are more likely to lose lean mass. Its all fine though since after ramadan you can gain the lean mass back. Also its ramadan, it teaches you that you really wont have this muscular body for a while (due to aging and elderly) and to not stay too attached to this dunya. I hope this helps.

I don’t think it’s that hard to gain weight in Ramadan. Last Ramadan I bulked and gained like 2kg/4.5 lb of mainly muscle. It’s not that hard. I ate 4 samosas, glass of juice and a meal for iftar, big bowl of cereal after taraweeh, 1.5h later had a high calorie shake and before suhoor had eggs/toast with glass of milk. Total was around 3500 calories.

If you worry about gains during Ramadan, you might as well not fast. Ramadan is all about being anti dunya to the point we abstain from everything that necessitates pleasure and comfort. The nights should be filled with worship, prayer and Quran.
