How did somalis go from Sufi to Salafi?

I heard most somalis pre civil war were Sufi but what caused this drastic change to the Salafi branch

Students of Knowledge from Saudi universities started Dawah in Somalia. Alhamdulillah they did cause a lot of people were calling on to saints instead of the Creator. Not all sufis are the same though, so I am generalizing here.

Yes but they believed in awliya and were heavy in qadiryyah. Invoking names of saints, celebrating Mohamed's birthday, dhikr songs and trances.

no such thing as sufi or salafi. if you submit ur will to Allah and accept Prophet Muhammad (saw) as his last messenger and you take the quran as Allah words than you are muslim.
