How come white people make up a middle name for their children?

Their middle name is not their fathers or grandfathers name. It's a made up second name for the child. All the children in one family have different middle names and the women have female middle names. What kind of culture is this?

It's the worst tradition but I think it is dying off. Even the wretched feminists are against taking their husband's name but they do so for other reasons like female empowerment. They still hate their fathers but will keep his name.
