How are people with albinism treated in Somalia? Are they hated like in other Sub Saharan African countries?

I think it’s weird because a lot of these same Africans that consider albinos as subhuman are bleaching their skin and/or use make up to look lighter. How are Somalis with albinism treated ?

I wish that were true but that's not the case. Somalis believe everything is the cause of jinn.
You have a headache - jinn
Depression jinn
Stomach bug - jinn
Mental illness- jinn

I follow the Instagram page SomaliFaces where somalis share their story and one young man who was an Albino living in a refugee camp who's story made me cry when I first read it years ago comes to mind. I'll try to look for it.

Somalis are still incredibly ignorant unfortunately. Anything different = bad.

I hope this young man is doing well today.

So Somalia is similar to Japan. Any Japanese that looks different is ostracized.

Somalis are angels comparing to the Japanese.

in japan, any small mistake means that you don't deserve to be Japanese and the whole society will see you as a burden

Tanzania witch doctors eat Arms or use the arms of the albino kids for spells and stuff. Yep they will rip off the smell. I've never seen an Albino Somali person. Light skinned reer xamar are closest to Albin I've seen.

So that's why many Japanese commit suicide in Suicide Forest

many Japanese that find jobs abroad don't return to their countries.
Notice article mentions "Unemployed man". Man the unemployment causing Japanese young dudes to kill their sisters and parents.

In the Somali Galbeed and Northwest Somali/a/land, the following terms san cadaale (masculine) and san cadlay (feminine) are insults that mean cursed skin. Perhaps it was intended for individuals with albinism, but it’s used to refer to white people in a derogatory way and as a putdown more generally.

Albinism is exceedingly rare in Somalia.

Conversely, casaan denoting a reddish- or golden-brown hue was the beauty standard of Somalis of old, not necessarily their contemporaries from the diaspora or back home both influenced by outsiders. Bleaching is a foreign import that arrived in Djibouti in the 80s and trickled into Somalia much later. So, it is a relatively recent phenomenon,

Actual ethnic Somalis (with albinism)

I have lived in Somalia for many months and never have I seen an ethnic Somali albino.

All the albinos (quite a few) I saw were Somali Bantus (different ethnicity with different genes).

Albinism is extremely rare in Cushitic ethnic Somalis.

'' In Tanzania, albinos represent one in every 1429 births, a much higher rate than in any other nation. '' - Somali Bantus have roots from Tanzania.
