I wouldn’t say that because Shabaab does not have local support from hg clans. Hirshabelle clans that live east of the river like hawadle and the harti/wacbudhan were always anti Shabaab and Shabaab never really had local support. Our main towns apart from a few were liberated few years back but they were an island surrounded by sea of Shabaab. that’s why it was easy to cook up Macawiisley.

It’s as if he is the final criterion for critiquing any clan, his judgement is final and all Somalis accept it without question. When we want to know which Somali land is the most beautiful we all quote his famous saying and no one second guesses him. His Darawiish used to ask him such questions as ‘what’s your opinion on clan x sayidi, and what land is most beautiful’ because they knew his words were final and they made sure to transmit it to us.
