Higher Education in Canada

Why is the % with university level education so ridiculously high in Canada?

https://data.oecd.org/eduatt/population-with-tertiary-education.htm#indicator-chart

59.2% in Canada

meanwhile 29.6% in Germany

Are Canadian degrees all bullshit or something?

Immigrant parents tell their kids to go to university and if they don't they will get "disowned", which is why university education is so high.

Somalis, Eritreans, and Ethiopians are the majority of the "black" population in Canadian universities.

The vast majority of people in Canada are not immigrants (recent). They could not drive up the numbers up that much.

A degree in Canada must be practically worthless if 60% have one.

This might also explain why a total cuck like Trudeau rules over Canada.

It looks like Canada is Trump-proof.

Universities in Canada are filled with Diasporas who have no choice but to go to university, and a degree in Canada isn't worthless, I know people working abroad with Canadian degrees.

The average admission grade for university is 85% so it's not easy to get in and there are 4 universities in the top 100.

You need a degree for most jobs here for some reason, even secretaries. The secretary I used to work with had a PhD from an American university in Chemistry. The one I work with now has a Canadian M.B.A.

Majority of degree's in Canada won't get you a job in your field. The market is so saturated it's beyond insanity. Majority of people I know are 4-7 years out and still with a lot of debt and no real career. It's kind of sad tbh:pachah1::meleshame:

Europeans have the same IQ as Canadians.. maybe even 1 or 2 points higher, yet there's a 20-30% difference in degree rates.

I suspect standards may be lower in Canada.

Admissions are a B- even at the shittiest institutions. Practically every school here is in the top 500 globally. And like AJ said we have 4 in the top 100 (and like 2 more before 150). Standards aren't low there is simply no incentive not to get a degree. It's affordable and there's no interest on loans when you're done provided you're smart enough to use repayment assistance. Higher influx of immigrant children and an old generation that was equally as educated and voila.

The problem here is that your master's degree offers very little additional benefit outside of Ontario. Only a couple of percentage points higher in terms of employment than someone with a Bachelors.

I read an article that within the next few years there will be boatload of job postings because the baby boomers will retire

Lol. Its a lie. They never retire. They will start doing part time consulting. These people die on the job.

They also never fill their jobs when they do leave.

The only young people I see are Indians and Chinese people. They prefer immigrants who slave for them.

It's very bad even in Toronto. There are no young people in the workplace.

Not really. There is a point system here to immigrate. Those numbers include foreign university graduates. All those immigrants here have degrees.

Those university rankings are biased towards English speaking universities as more people read their publications. German and Japanese unis are downgraded as nobody cites them while they produce big innovations all the time.

it's still a great index for western universities especially considering we're talking literally thousands of institutions

In the points system, you can get a maximum of 25 points for education out of 67 points to immigrate. 22-25 points for a Bachelor's to PhD degree while you only get 5 points for a high school diploma.

Then you get up to 13 points for 4-5 years of relevant work experience.

If you are below 35, you get maximum 13 points for that.

Then you have to speak English or French for the maximum 6 points.

Then there are other criteria.

It's impossible to immigrate here if you don't have a degree. But they will never get jobs here they had back home.

Canada also admits in a lot of refugees to balance out those brainy immigrants. The Somalis in Canada don't seem particularly selected for education.

Except for the Syrians last year, the country admits 25,000 out of the 300,000 permanent residents every year. Somalis all go through the refugee route.

The number should decrease to 10,000 or 0 a year. Immigrants are not needed. They bring more harm than good.

They need to open the floodgates and accept more refugees. I love chaos. :mybusiness:
