Neither are really religious, at least in Ed Husic’s case.

He made the mistake of calling himself “non-practicing” when he first entered politics in 2000s in order to be electable in post-9/11 Australia.

Husic could’ve been prime minister or opposition leader but after he claimed that calling himself “non-practicing” was a mistake done to appease voters, his chance of office vanished.

The other minister, Anne Aly, is Egyptian born and is a reputed academic. She’s a PhD holder and respected lecturer regarding “countering violent extremism”. I’m not too sure if she’s religious but my guess is that she’s practicing but not religious.

However, they do not criticise or speak negatively about Islam. They generally don’t speak much about Islam but when they do it’s positive.

Because the more Muslims in non-Muslim governments, the more we get to infiltrate the country with our own ideals.
The same could be said for Muslims in the non-Muslim countries, but the truth is that the kuffaar have a bigger effect on us than we have on them. Just take a look at the Muslims who are born here.
