A judge decides.

Here in Australia, the defendant can choose whether h/she will like h/her case to be heard by a jury or a judge only.

Served once on a jury panel, it was a waste of time because a higher court squashed the sentence.

You do know that we have that right here ..."to be judged a jury of your peers or by a judge "

I'd prefer a jury ....a judge is one sole soul, that person can have a dislike of you for no reason and rationale

A jury is made of different minds...but the jury has to be of mixed races

Swedish legal system is accusatorial because there is a prosecutor representing the state and a defense attorney representing the defendant. The trials occur without juries, but include a judge and three to five lay judges who cast a vote on the fate of the accused.

Also there's no plea bargaining everyone whose prosecuted must stand trial

Waa sidaas. But we don’t have a grand jury hearing organised by the district attorney, instead we have a committal hearing or a mention. If the case is serious, the cops represented by the district attorney (we call here, public prosecutors) can lay charges against a person. A lower court (with a judge only) can hear the case and if the judge thinks that there are enough evidence, then he will send the accused to a higher court for trial. This is the legal process for all the serious cases.
