I ran into a guy I haven't seen in like 5 years cause he went back home.i ran into him today at a Somali restaurant cause I was craving for Calool to eat ( I've never had it before) .I was genuinely surprised to see him and greeted him well when all of a sudden he asked me to give him a ride. It was out of my way but I allowed it because poor cat just got back from back home and I figured we'd catch up. Just few minutes into me driving him to where he wanted to go I sensed that something was wrong with him. Therefore I paid attention to him and it dawned on me that homeboy was now mentally ill :farmajoyaab:

After dropping him I called a person close to him and I was informed that he actually lost it right before he gone back home and that's why he left but now it is even worse.

Ilaahoow caafi! I mean he was a nice guy to begin with.

Has this happened to you that someone you knew has gone mental while you were away or the person was away somewhere

How did you sense it? His body language, mannerisms, or ??

Walahi I quickly pick up on things that other folks rarely catch but in this case even a toddler could've caught it.

It was his incoherent talk. He was proper in the beginning but he veered off. It was like he was involved in a talk with anothe individual because he would reply back to someone, that someone wasn't me. For instance we were talking about his time in Somalia, his new family and child and guy would say " I don't involve myself in that fight, they can kill each other, it's not my business, don't you agree ":ooh::ooh:

Why didn't you write the story and the title together?

Are you trying to send me to the mental ward. Why are making my way of doing things as so odd ? Just cause this topic is about losing it don't mean you gotta portray me as on the path to waalinimo :mjpls::mjpls::mjpls:

You're a weasel lool

Now @embarassing looks like she's laughing at the poor guy. You should have written the story in the first place.

I know! I feel bad. Real talk, as I'm making the title my effing writing arrow moves and only to get it back to where it was is to submit it.

Yes, this happened with a friend of mine. She too went to Somalia. I hadn't seen her in ages and when I finally did, I invited her over. I didn't even notice something was wrong. My mom picked up on it and asked me not to bring her around. I thought she was just awkward so I invited her again. One night she slept over but didn't actually sleep. She was just up and wide eyed. Then i used the bathroom after her and she had scribbled weird signs and words in it. I woke my mom up and she called her mom who came to get her. (By then she had already stripped naked and ran across the street)

I avoided her after that but I do see her bizarre rants on Facebook from time to time.

What the hell is wrong with you ? She could've stabbed your whole family.

How old were y'all then ?

I wasn't very good on picking up signs. My mom almost immediately knew she was crazy. I was 17 and she was 19. I have yet to hear of her doing anything violent, although another childhood friend of mine with mental illness committed suicide.

no.

@Hani Malab I have seen something similar relating to fb. A somali women would write on fb about her husband some of the craziest most foul things about her poor husband. She would whilst presumably in a mental hospital would say she was being held against her will by strangers and needed help from police. Few of her friends would comment and say "where are you so we can call for help". Her poor husband would then comment not to worry.

How to we know she really wasn't in his torture chamber?

Ever since that one event that happened to people I know I wouldn't have someone mentally compromised ( not related to me at my place of living ). It was several years ago where a mental brother got up in the middle of the night, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his sleeping brother in the heart
