I put Books to the Test of Life
One of the reasons why the Children of Israel faced subjugation and unfortunate circumstances, including slavery and a halt in Allah's favors, was their attempt to disfigure the blessed looks bestowed upon them by Allah. Their profound ingratitude towards Allah included this disrespectful act. The Prophet, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, informed us about this, cautioning the Arabs not to commit the same serious crime of altering the afro/woolly hair that they, too, were blessed with.
Sahih al-Bukhari 5932
Narrated by Humaid bin `Abdur-Rahman bin `Auf who said In the year he performed Hajj he heard Mu’awiyya bin Abi Sufyaan, in the year of Hajj while he was on the pulpit and he was saying while he was taking a piece of hair that was in the hand of a guard, “Where are your religious learned men? I heard Allah’s Messenger may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, forbidding this (ARTIFICIAL hair) and saying, ‘ For Verily The Children of Israel were destroyed when their women started using this.”
Let us not misunderstand this narration to mean that the hair being spoken about is just simply a wig. We must understand that this hair is extra hair being added to hair that is already there in order to make it appear longer.
Sunnan Al Nisaai Book 48, Hadith 209
On the authority of Saeed Ibn Al Musayb who narrated from Mu’awiyah that: ”The Messenger of Allah may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him forbade giving deceptive impressions and the falsehood of a woman when she adds extra hair to her head.”
