In early 1930s, the Italians built a large factory on the salt flats of Hafun in North Eastern Somali Coast; About 2000 Somalis and 600 Italians were working at the plant which produced about half a Million tons of Salt per year!

They should export it to Ethiopia or Kenya.

It is not actually a salt mine, they are just digging up evaporated salt from the ponds the Italians left behind 70 years ago.

Not ethiopia. They should export it globally, especially to the Asia, perhaps China. Sea salt is a premium product. People pay top dollar for that stuff if they marketed it nicely.

According to Dalsoor, we currently import most of our salt from Kenya.
