Greeting Somalis

Do you tend to greet fellow Somali's (that you don't know) in public whether through words, a smile or a nod of the head?
I noticed there's some people that will go out of their way to avoid fellow Somali's lol.

I did to these annoying little children today and they walked past me. I'm not going to salaam anyone anymore. I'm Christian after all.

Yeah especially at my uni and my way downtown, i do notice some that tend to avoid somalis but it was mostly xalimos that did that sort of thing from my experience

I saw these two young Somali's on what I would presume is a date one day, they separated quickly when they saw me, wanted to tell them I could care less what they do lol.

If I don't know you don't talk to me that's my motto with Somalis non-Somalis and the homeless.

:drakelaugh: I could totally see that happening, they probably thought you were gonna expose them or something

No. I have a vehement hatred for those middle-aged habro. I sometimes don't even greet them back, especially if I have headphones in.

I used to greet the odayaal every now and then but I don't do that anymore. I just nod at younger Somali men and that's about it.

I don't think it would phase them.

True, I've never had one call me out...I also walk pretty fast so.... Then again, what would get to them? They're evil spawns from hell with their judgemental glares

I do get the occasional greetings from habraha and sometimes they attempt to have a full blown conversation even though I don't know who they are half of the time but they think they know me because they are friends with my mother. For the younger generation, if I don't know them then they don't bother me which is great.

If its an elder 99.9% of the time, I will greet them. If its a young person- nope. Why would I? I'm not obligated to, and its awkward sometimes bc we just end up staring at each other like: "are you Somali too?"

It doesn't happend, I will have to start greeting somalis for them to recognise me.

But for some odd reason, i get greeted by indians in their langauge.
:birdman:

I will always make sure to give greetings to my fellow somali brethren. None to somali females. Occasionally i get salams from habraha which i respond back in courtesy.

The only time i would not give salams to somali is if he is iyal a suq
