Goobjoog Media Group journalist arrested over COVID-19 post.

Mogadishu (HOL) -The Deputy Director of Mogadishu based Goobjoog Media Group Abdiaziz Ahmed Gurbiye was Tuesday morning arrested in Mogadishu.
The Group’s Director Hassan Mohamud confirmed to HOL the arrest of Gurbiye noting it was related to a Facebook post on the ongoing COVID-19 developments.
“I can confirm Mr. Gurbiye was arrested this morning after he was summoned by police Monday night,” Mohamud said. “They police said they were charging him in relation to his Facebook post.”Gurbiye who commands significant following on Facebook has been consistently reporting on COVID-19 cases in Somalia in the last few weeks.
In the particular post the police are interested in charging Gurbiye, the journalist alleges a ventilator at Digfer Hospital in Mogadishu ‘was taken by President Mohamed Farmaajo’s office to be used at a medical facility within Villa
Somalia’.
The allegations by the journalist come amid fears raised by the brother of HirShabelle Justice Minister Khalif Mumin who succumbed to COVID-19 last week.
“The minister was clearly in distress when he was at the hospital. He was having trouble breathing and although there was a ventilator in the hospital, nobody knew how to operate it,” Hussein Mohamed Gagaale a relative of the deceased told HOL Wednesday. (See separate story).
The former lawmaker added, "They (Martini staff) are severely ill-prepared. They do not have the necessary training to care for COVID-19 victims and Tohow died as a result."Goobjoog Media Group is yet to issue an official statement on the arrest of its staffer.
