A man who accidentally shot himself in a restaurant with a gun he tucked in his pants has been arrested after he fled and got into a hit-and-run, Toronto police allege.
It all started Monday at around 3:50 p.m. when the man entered a restaurant near Markham Rd. and Painted Post Dr.
While inside, the gun discharged, injuring the man’s leg. The injury isn’t considered life-threatening.
While it’s unclear how he shot himself, police said the gun was tucked into his pants and went off accidentally.
The man then discarded the gun and left in a vehicle, subsequently becoming involved in a hit-and-run collision near Brimorton Dr. and Scarborough Golf Club Rd., police said.
He then abandoned his vehicle, and ran into a nearby home where he was arrested just before 4:15 p.m.
Investigators said they found the gun the next day after an intense search with the canine unit in a wooded area of the Highland Creek west ravine.
Abdihakim Saeed, 20, faces eight charges, six of which are gun-related. The other two relate to the hit-and-run.
