$200 million is a lot of money to fund raise in 2.5 years specially in Somalia very unrealistic. I will be surprised if 10-20 million is raised in that time frame.

In terms of developments that have been targeted by Gaas, you have to admit either all are achieved or near completion..

If gaas government says it will be done in 2.5 for some thing in the region of 200 million dollars best be assured it's not a far fetched story..

Yes 200 million is a rather large figure but considering what he has done with with the road from bari to ceerigaabo
From garacad to goldogob
The 2 completed airports and the gaalkacyo airport construction which is about to launch this year.
The bosaso port deal..

This is the true face of president Gaas..elpresidente de achievements..

It's a very good step for all Somalia because of the trend it sets, other regional citizens will look at the achievements of puntlands leaders and would demand a similar ambition from their leaders and will not accept unproductive administrations..

Somaliland was in the past the trend setter it has been surpassed by Puntland.. inshallah All other states including Somaliland should demand a more productive admins ...

2.5 years is an impossible deadline with limited infrustructure.

If it’s the people money with private investors, the state needs to watch how every dollar is spent.

Turkish companies are the second most active global construction companies after China. I hope they deliver in this completion.

The details do seem a little too ambitious. If it's true then Garacad would be finished before the Bosaso/Berbera port upgrades.
:pachah1:
Regardless, I am just enjoying the enthusiasm and determination for Garacad port. :damnmusic: We've been waiting for decades and now it looks guaranteed. :mjhaps:

Why not just upgrade Bosaso port and build better roads so products can reach their destination faster more ports is not Somalia what needs its better roads so products can move quickly and safely its a whole new ball game when Somalia actually gets a highway system and a railway

I'm sure that you understand an entire country can't use only one port, especially one as huge as Somalia. For those same reasons, Puntland needs multiple ports.

The current situation is people from Gaalkacyo use Bosaso port. Products are received in Bosaso and are trucked halfway across the country to Gaalkacyo. This is incredibly inefficient and adds a lot to the cost of products. It's the same going in the opposite direction so it's difficult to export cheaply from Gaalkacyo.

It's not just Gaalkacyo that has this problem but all of central Somalia and Somali Galbeed. Garacad is the solution to this problem.

Also, travel by sea is still the cheapest, quickest, and most environmentally friendly form of transportation. Railways are second then roads.

No sense in investing money in second best, especially when the sea is so close to every part of Somalia. That's why everyone wants to build a port. More ports will help the country.

A railway is only needed for Somali Galbeed.

How long does it take to get from Bosaso to Galkaio now

Puntland keeps winning, they need to ignore Interhamwe calaacal and build that port, finally we Rer Cabudwaaq will have a closer port than Bosaaso.:banderas:

Development is sweet.

@Shaolin23 How many hours drive is Garacad from Caabudwaaq? Considering the Mudug terrain is more "car friendly" than the south since Balanbale is around 100KM 2 hour drive from Caabudwaaq.

This is a private investment. The government just facilitates but the business community of specially Mudug is investing in this project.

Isku Tashi is sweet because you don't count on someone and therefore they can't disappoint you :banderas:

Bosaso port serves beyond Galkayo, it serves all the way to Hiiraan and Isaac's use Bosaso more than Berbera. Hiiraan is closer to Xamar but they use Bosaso. People will always choose quality and reliability over proximity. Garacad needs to prove itself before Bosaso even needs to change its strategy.

Garacad should aim for the smaller products and leave the heavy lifting to Bosask

Time to invest in warehouses.
:banderas:

Seriously though, the investors need a website with quarterly balance sheets and statements.

Dude it takes 2 years just to build a condo in Toronto.

Take into consideration that’s with all the access to suppliers and workforce.

Turkish companies however are better than China when fulfilling projects overseas, they help train locals and bring in their own suppliers and forecast their COGSand materials efficiently.

The Turkish companies will do well in Somalia as long as they train locals, care for the environment and uphold safety as if they work in EU countries.

Regardless, Garcaad is a go. However the 2.5 years isn’t feasible, unless they build everything in Turkey and assemble it all in Garcaad. The cement costs alone will be astronomical in Somali standards

i have spend 4 out of my last 6 years in puntland and i see how simple it would be to turn around the development. The governent is responsible in blocking multiple development projects just because they arnt getting a cut. for example. just 3 months ago golis telecom offered to fix all the pot holes on the main bosaso port that goes by the golis main building. the government refused and golis exposed them.
