This would be the head of the navy but Hassan sheikh took away his position. Would love to see him return. Dhulbahante and any Somali with merit should lead. Best performing in the Qatari air cadets among even cajnabi and this too, gob waye.

Shame merit isn't a prized aspect of the current administration. If a man is fit for the job he should be given it. HSM is a fool for curbing upcoming talent, he was probably replaced by some uncle who's never been in military training. Smh.

EDIT: not misinfo, I was right. And there’s a chance he could be dead. He fought in the lascanood conflict

misinfo on my part. However apparently he took part in lascanood conflict.

thought he he got taken off his post, saw reports of that back in the day. but he was allowed to stay, though one of the bright admirals under him was killed by issaq. AUN

he’s still in the navy @Bazed @Step a side

AUN to the admiral.

Is he still involved in navy? Cause with the new deal there can be a chance for him to do good. If there's any place in Somali society that should be a strict meritocracy, its should be the armed forces. I wouldn’t want to go into battle with a leader who's only credentials being the 3rd cousin of the defense minister.

He’s not involved just checked again, damn. It’s this Abdi Warsame. He doesn’t have naval experience. But experience in regular battle.:mindblown:

Head of the navy?? the guy looks about 35. The admirals I see in other countries look ancient.
Age doesn’t really matter for the most part. This man was trained for years and is top of his class at naval logistics, which he was trained alongside a NATO #3 military power

Can't say I'm surprised. They'd put their put goat in charge before a young capable man from a different clan. Somali clans are a legit cancer to the nation, what should be fun lineage thing has turned into absolute trash that holds us back.

One of the things stopping highly qualified diaspora from returning with their skills is the fact that some idiot can be placed above him simply based on who he knows. It's why half our politicians aren't fit to be anything other than middle management at some businesses.

But it is what it is.

It is more likely that a guy from the same tribe as you will be put in charge than a guy from a different tribe because of 4.5.

Flawed system. We're supposed to be working towards a united nation and we can't do that till we learn to trust each other. Nepotism is more likely to do harm to us than anything else.
