My grandfather who was stationed in Berbera and most of his battalion were instructed to shoot at the protesters. But they'd just empty their clips by shoot ing in the air and go home.
The generals didn't have much control on making them kill innocent ppl or even fighting with the rebels.

Hergeisa/Burco were bombed by South African white mercenary pilots.

My grandfather (AUN) was a pilot for both the Somali Air Force and Somali Airlines and he and many other Somali pilots refused. He deflected to Djibouti and the Military Police and Intelligence were hunting him.
