I have realized many things:

- Get out of your comfort zone. Always put yourself in uncomfortable but safe situations and people different than yourself. Don't just be around Black or Somalis or Muslim but everyone. It's very rewarding.

- It's useless going for As in school if you're not getting A+ in networking and A+ in personality. Aim for Cs in school if it means A+ in the other two. No one cares about your super high GPA. They only care if you're qualified for the job but can also make them laugh or have similar interests as them.

- Don't work too hard at work if you want to get ahead and get promotions. Hard workers are too valuable to the position to be moved up. Quality (systems thinker), not quantity. Perception over action. Personality over being a Yes Man. You should not be stressed or overworked at shaqo. Appear to be the smartest and irreplaceable but leave 18-24 month mark before most people notice you're a fraud. Come to meetings with one valuable insight/comment. Dress to impress. Always lead and direct and have a different opinion, don't simply accept.

- The police are overstretched and overworked. You can get away with most crimes or bad behaviour (I don't take advantage of this though).

- Make "friendship" with people in authority, big business, politics, law firms, etc without making it obvious you plan to use their services in the future should you need it. Buy them small gifts on their bday, etc.

- No one's opinion matters except your close friends and family. You will learn not to care about what anyone else thinks of you.

- Everyone is painting a better picture of themselves than they really are. Everyone has some problem they are facing (low self esteem, anxiety, feeling inadequate, etc). Keep this in mind to perform better in life.

- Life is largely meaningless outside of your loved ones and your hobbies.

- Unless they are Cali Beysteeyn, people are in bad situations largely due to poor life choices. Don't feel bad for them. No one can help them except for themselves. Don't be fooled by the far left progressives. Homelessness, drug use, despair, war and others will never be solved. Don't waste your time on these issues unless it's for charity or if it involves your friends/loved one.

I have more I'll add later.

This thread should really be stickied for this post alone, especially your 2nd point.

Unless you're getting into medicine or a highly competitive post graduate program, your grades mean nothing once you done your bachelors. A person who got a 2.5 GPA but did a lot of volunteering and networking during his post Secondary years will go much farther in life than the 3.5 GPA guy whose socially awkward and has little to no network/valuable friends.

Spend less time on books and more time experience things WITH useful people. It will broaden your horizons in many ways.

The rest of the post is gold mine for kids in their late teens/20s.
