I agreed successive Ethiopian regimes committed massacres in the Somali region. But since the TPLF was the recent regime that committed massacres and they were recently besieging the capital, I don't understand why the victims of their heinous crimes show apathy towards them?

As for Abyei, he wasn't in charge of the system that committed the crimes; he was only an operative in that regime. And judging his dealings with the Somali region and Somalia as a whole and the important positions he gave to Somalis in his cabinet, I think we can say that he's departed from the previous repressive policies against the Somalis. However, we'll have to see how he behaves after his regime becomes stable.
