Film about young Somalis in Canada from 1994

I thought this was a cool film. It’s in French (Djiboutian actors I think?) but there’s English subtitles.

How come none of them are wearing hijab yet today mothers will have a fit if their daughter dressed like western

Interesting find.
It’s gives an early insight into the subsequent gender wars.
However, I’m not so sure about the idea of wife beating being normalised in Somali society.

What an interesting documentary, but man shit kinda made me sad. You can tell the civil war has affected them tremendously, I can’t imagine being a teenager and see your own country go through a civil war. Still, they cherished what they had and adapted to their new life at canada.

One thing also, I love aesthetics of 90s, everybody had drip back then. Almost everybody in the video dressed fashionably.

Un film intemporel!

Je l'ai vraiment beaucoup apprécié et je vous remercie de l'avoir partagé avec nous.:salute::friendhug:

Those youths were very liberals and educated for 1994 era ,they are very fluent in French hence most of them are probably Djiboutians.
