I'd probably have a date farm back home as a hobby and a nice retirement home in the mountains overlooking the pure white sandy beaches and the pristine guardafui channel I will make sure it's nice and big as well so my grandkids and family can visit or live with me during the holidays in Caluula district when I grow old and retired inshallah, I'm still deciding whether to do it in my hometown Caluula or go for Murcanyo.

Mangos back home are banging, I bought some land back home to retire in my old ass age in the middle of no where.

I'm still young, so hopefully in another 20-25 years once I reach 50, plan to start a few businesses back home and live off them.
Inshallah you will i hope everything settles down there in a few years.

I'm from the north so it's been quite peaceful, I haven't returned for a few years, and the security is tight
Thats good to hear hope the security becomes less tight and you can go back one day

Question guys;

Do you need family ties or tribal connections to buy land in the north? My family member is interested in frankincense trading and wants to farm Boswellia trees, as the climate conditions in the northern part of Somalia are ideal for these trees..

It depends on where it is really, and I don't think they would mind much minimum is just to be a part of the clan or affiliated with it somehow idk much to be honest really.

I'm not sure, but it would be best if your family member get in contact with a local in the region of interest. They surely have more knowledge of the dynamics of land/farm ownership than most of us on SSpot and would be able to guide you through where it's suitable.
