FARMAAJO- SOMA OIL PUPPET??

Like everyone else I thought the appointment of Farmaajo was a victory for the Somali people and a middle finger to Gabre and Damul Jadiid.

But then he appointed a Soma Oil & Gas investor as PM. A company whose executive board is "allegedly" filled with right wing dubious characters and has already been investigated by the UN for corrupt activity.

Nothing changes in Somalia. Farmaajo, like every other politician in Somalia, is controlled by foreign interests.

I wonder how his fanboys will spin this epic fail. He had a golden opportunity to present fresh faces and then he pulls out a PM from the same pit we're trying to escape from. At worst, he is a Soma Oil puppet, at best, he appointed the PM as part of in-law nepotism. Either way, Farmaajo is already flopping.

"Soma Oil & Gas Holdings Ltd., chaired by former U.K. Conservative Party leader Michael Howard, has proposed a deal with the Somali government that may grant it as much as 90 percent of the country’s prospective oil revenue."

Good to see you've been knighted, Sir Righteous. Your work didn't go unnoticed by the boqortooyo.:wow:

Its unreasonable to think he would do otherwise. Britain has to get the money its spend on the somali government.

I also noticed the last 2 un representatives have been british.

Another MJ calaacal thread against Farmaajo, truly the cancer of Somalia

I am not MJ.

If you pull your head out of your arse, you may notice that vultures are trying to steal SOMALIA's national resources.
Farmaajo and I share the same clan but I will not turn a blind eye to corruption.

Somalia is the world's most corrupt country, we won't get corruption free candidates but we can hope for competetent leaders. With said, only time can tell if he will be a flop or not. Bad conflict of interest of the PM, agreed but they are mitigating circumstances.

First and foremost Farmaajo had to choose a Hawiye memember and he went for mursarade the clan. The clan has decried being left out of top positions in the government and it has led many to join Al-shabaab in their frustrations. By choosing a PM from that group Farmaajo undermines Al-shabaab recruiting bases. It was evident when Al-shabaab commander made a surprise announcement warning his fellows from being persuaded by the government suggesting the policy already has created a sense of uncertainty among Al-shabaab.

Second point, both men are personally involved and have friendly relations. Farmaajo sought a PM he could rule with for four years and avoid the Somali syndrome like HSM that had to change PM three times in a four year periode. It leads to inconsistent policies and more corruption, as the President has to bribe or concede some position to Parliamentarians for them to evict the PM, and they take themselves dearly paid.

Third, PM's experience as aid worker. He is a former aid worker and has experience with aid work and drought, and as Somalia is facing it works drought in history, this experience would be to some use.

Fourth, lack of experience forces him to rely on the President, who has experience in Somali politics as PM. In Somalia the President is technically ceremonial besides the power to appoint PM and his commander-in-chief powers. By choosing an inexperienced PM Farmaajo can ensure that he gets to influence the policy and the appointments to a great extent.

But did Britain spend disproportionate amount of money on Somalia compared to other western countries?

The guy has not even been in office for one month and he is already corrupt? Come on, give him a chance! If he does not do enough within his first year then yes he is corrupt.

I believe so. Plus they organized that massive meeting in London where donors and other heads of state attended. After that somalia stabilised.

But bro I think Britain sees somalia as its resource colony. Why wont America or germany Australia try what they doing?

I didn't say he was corrupt, I said that he flopped with the appointment of someone who is involved with a predatory company.
Isn't this worth investigating and discussing?

There are other choices, clean choices. Even Murursade has other candidates that are not involved with "Soma Colonisation of our Oil & Gas."

Yes, but the other choice most likely had their own agenda and followers unlike the new PM and lack the experince on aid work.

I think in the end Farmaajo wanted someone he know 100 % he could work with and he choose Hasan. I think they will last the next four years and that alone can create stability by not throwing out a PM every year.

Time will tell why he selected that PM but it does not look good. Somalia was destroyed on purpose and now they are coming to collect.

Somalis destroyed Somalia, and we should support the President when he does good and critize when he does bad.

I think future actions will be speak loud. Both President and PM have drought as prioritize number one it seems, on that they seem sinked :damedamn:

Let's see if all the money is actually used to aid the nomads. I don't trust rhetoric, press releases or photo opps.
