My analysis on what has transpired today: Farmaajo is changing his approach and is no longer seeking term extension under the guise of conducting "future 1P1V" elections as per the proposal laid out by the electoral commission(which I'm sure he knows is impossible!). I'm not buying this apparent rift between the President and PM, the announcement by Kheyre and the subsequent press release by Farmaajo seems too carefully orchestrated, as if they're trying to undermine the meeting between FMS tomorrow in Dhuusomareeb.

The not so surprising takeaway from all of this, the next election will be no different from that of 2016. Halimo Yarey's mandate has come to an end. Another round of bribing and clan-based political coalitions will decide who the next president will be. Sheikh Tamim must have offered the war chest for N & N's reelection bid after Kheyre's trip to Qatar last week.
