Mohammed Ali pasha and his dynasty pushed eygpt forward so much that britain was scared that they would take a grip on the Suez canal and become a superpower. They were modernizing on a scale never seen before. We need leaders like them.

The Ottomans took more away from Egypt than they put in. Same with Ancient Rome. Egypt has been economically plundered by outside forces for the longest out of any country I think.
