Its a past bias coincidence.
Let us assume you think of people at X times in the day, you most likely think of people who are in you're life at a higher rate then people who aren't .
For instance you don't expect a message or call from Obama just because you thought of him.
Next we often message in a routine, whereby you probably don't get a message while thinking of them at 3am. Most likely you get it in a routine like situation.(8am or midday etc)
Now routines of messaging require two to participate in. Thus you both develop some form of routine and hence you think of them in the time you routinely message them.
Finally humans remember coincidences, hence a past coincidence bias forms whereby you believe you have supernatural predictive power.
5 years ago I developed a study for grade 11 probability experiment. I found that respondents over estimated their predictive power by nearly 30%.
Do an experiment , every time you think of someone write their name down and find if they message you. If they don't add a 0 to tally and add a 1 if they do. Probability for guessing correctly will be low.
If you note the time you will also find you think of them more around the time they message you the most.
You will also find you are even more horrible at predicting(pure chance) if a third person was to force them to message at another time.
TLDR: routines + past coincidence biase + mathematically blind = "Im a supernatural predictive machine!"

This is not based on habitul routine huuno. I gave an example of a person i don't know personally, but i speak to a friend about them. If i am invested in the stranger person, i will see them call the friend i am discussing to. Since they dont know me, they cant call me directly. So that tells me--my conscious is powerful enough to even illicit a third party calling each other. Strange than fiction for sure loool
